Q: When is a good time to plant a tree?
A wise person once said “Right now and 25 years ago!”, however we operate from April to November with the majority of our transplanting being done in the spring and the fall months.
During the summer growth season we try to use our largest tree spade so that we transport more of the root system, which is less stressful on the tree.
Q: What is a tree spade?
A tree spade is a specialized hydraulic piece of equipment that is used for transplanting trees from one location to another. Learn more
Q: How big of a tree can you move?
The the size of a tree that we can move successfully is more dependent on the trunk diameter than the height of the tree. Trunk diameters are measured using a caliper, six inches above the ground for a tree up to 4″ in diameter; and 12 inches above the ground for larger diameters.
- Our 46″ truck mounted tree spade will move trees with a trunk diameter up to 4 inches.
- Our 74″ truck mounted tree spade will move trees with a trunk diameter up to 8 inches.
Q: What does it cost to move a tree?
The cost varies greatly depending on many factors, but typically ranges from $60 to $500 per tree. We can usually provide an estimate over the phone with some basic information.
